GoGoSafari animals to appear at The Forum in May

Break successfully launched the GoGoSafari project back in February and has been thrilled by the reaction from the general public, local businesses, schools, community groups and the creative community alike.

The charity is inviting exotic animal lovers to meet the GoGoSafari team outside The Forum in Norwich on 15th May between 10:00 – 14:00 with the big 5 sculptures.

If you hadn't already heard, the next sculpture trail for Norwich has been revealed with not one, but five majestic beasts straight from the African Savannah marching their way into Norwich and Norfolk, for GoGoSafari 2025.

This year the roarsome safari sculpture trail will see everyone’s favourite, the gorilla, last seen in Norwich in 2013 alongside a new elephant, a lion, a giraffe and a rhino.

Delivered by Break, which supports young people from care, the trail is in partnership with Wild in Art and the Zoological Society of East Anglia, with presenting partners Norwich BID and Chantry Place.

Taking place for around ten weeks in summer 2025 and the charity are hoping to have around 50 sculptures across the city and county. Each will be sponsored by a business who will choose from designs submitted by artists to bring their sculpture to life.

"We can’t wait to see what the artists come up with to bring these magnificent animals to life"

“We’re extremely proud to be bringing another trail to Norwich and Norfolk – and this time with a really exciting new twist.”  comments Break’s Senior Partnerships and Projects Manager Peter Marron.

“We know how popular the gorillas were and we can’t wait to see which animal out of our big five will be people’s new favourite. Our trails really are fantastic projects to be involved in, but they really wouldn’t be possible without the amazing support we get from the public.

"Our focus now for GoGoSafari is getting the sponsors for each of the sculptures and we can’t wait to see what the artists come up with to bring these magnificent animals to life ready to hit the streets in 2025.”

Three of the five sculptures which will be included in the 2025 trail

GoGoSafari will the fifth trail that the charity will have delivered in Norwich, as well as being responsible for Cows in Cambridge in 2021 and Cambridge Standing Tall, which will see giraffes take over the city in March 2024.

The charity’s big five will also be joined by the Mini G, a smaller version of the giraffe sculpture as part of GoGoSafari’s popular Learning and Community Programme which will see over 10,000 young people from local schools and community groups decorate their own Mini G, which will be returned to them once the trail has finished as their very own keepsake.
